Gary Beck & Jay Lumen – Lotus EP

Well, we have to say it, at the risk of sounding unprofessional, unjournalistic – if you will allow me to invent a word – and insert myself into the story in true Gonzo fashion, but I got so excited I almost….well you get the picture.

That is, when I saw that two of my favorite producers, and absolute powerhouses behind the console or decks, collaborated and made something that can only be described as white-hot ear candy. Via Drumcode records, Gary Beck and Jay Lumen teamed up and put out not one, but two stellar releases via the Swedish techno, superlabel on June 18, 2012.
“Lotus“, complete with hypnotic bass and a drum beat that causes arrhythmia of the best kind of high intensity tech Gary Beck pushes with the funk that Jay Lumen laces into everything he touches.
“Strange Fruit” on the other hand has more of a Lumen-esque influence, bringing that swing-house, tech-funk this writer loves bumping through his speakers wherever the hands on the clock happen to be.

Keep the dancefloor packed, kids.
