Hot Pink Delorean Interview
We had a chance to have a little chat with Hot Pink Delorean about their brand new album that just dropped on January 10th, The Revenge of Sisyphus! Read on….
MusikBeats: Thanks for taking time out of your day to chat with us! Happy new year, first off and congratulations on your debut album, ‘Revenge Of The Sisyphus’! How does it feel to finally?release your debut album?
Hot Pink Delorean: It feels good to finally get it out there!
MB: Tell me a little about the album. What inspired it, and what is the story you are trying to convey to your fans?
HPD: The lp was inspired by our fans and how they reacted to certain tracks in the clubs we play in. There isnt really a story being conveyed through the music. Its supposed to be a collection of fun tunes. Sort of a soundtrack of fun for any occaision.
MB: Which track is your favorite from the album for each of you?
Matt – I Surrender
Chris – The Revenge of Sisyphus
Jon – Rhythm From Mars
MB: Since there are three of you, what was the biggest obstacle you guys had to overcome with each other while producing these tracks and finalizing the album?
HPD: The only obstacle we face is touring while trying to stay in touch and work on the music. We don’t always tour together, so sometimes one of us will be home in the studio. We don’t really run into that many creative differences. There will always be another tune. That’s how we look at it.
MB: What was your biggest inspiration in putting together this album?
HPD: We wanted to do a diverse lp that stayed true to where we came from but showed that we aren’t just a noisey electro group. We play and make all different genres. The fans were also a big inspiration. They really dictate what tracks go over well in our sets, which then shapes the music we make.
MB: What was it like working with Rory Lyons and how did you choose him to work with on a couple of your tracks?
HPD: Working with Rory was great. He brought some really original ideas to the table. We chose to work with him because he is a good friend and had some cool ideas to work with.
MB:You’ve had massive amounts of recognition and support this past year from reputable?names and fans. How does it make you feel, waking up every morning and realizing that your work is influencing so many people?
HPD: It’s remarkable to know that people enjoy our music! We’ve never really thought about it in a way where we influence people so much as it’s so gratifying to be able to make peoples days better. It never really hits you until you get to see a crowd go nuts to one of your songs that’s the best feeling there is.
MB: As you look back on 2011, what was the biggest accomplishment you feel like you achieved?
HPD: Either finishing our LP or being named one of America’s top 100 Djs.
MB: What is your resolution, individually and as a team for this new year?
HPD group – To make more music and give away a ton of it!
Matt – To get better at engineering
Chris – To keep working hard
Jon – to be nicer to Chris
MB: 2012 is already starting off as a big year for you guys with the drop of your album. What? else are you looking forward to and hope that 2012 will bring?
HPD: We are looking forward to hopefully playing bigger and bigger events so we can show more and more fans a great time!
MB: What can fans expect from you as far as upcoming projects you have planned for 2012??Who do you plan on working with?
HPD: Right now for HPD we are working with a vocalist named Casey Desmond and Gamble & Burke on a few tunes. We may also do some music with Tittsworth and Le Castle vania. Thats it for collaborations so far!
