TOMORROWLAND 2012 Closes its Doors on Most Successful Year Ever
The gates of the Tomorrowland festival have closed on what was the most successful year the festival has ever seen. Over 180,000 fans from 75 countries flocked to the little town of Boom, Belgium to see the likes of David Guetta, AVICII, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack, Chuckie and 445 other big-name DJs. Not only does the festival boast a stellar lineup, but what makes Tomorrowland unique is the stage designs and the atmosphere.
In 2012, the massive main stage measured almost 500 Feet long, close to two football fields, and weighed 138 tonnes. As you can see above, the stage represented a giant fairy-tale bookcase, complete with intricate detail, a monumental movable LED display book, and surprises up every sleeve. In addition to the main stage, the festival grounds incorporated waterfalls, the world’s tallest portable ferris wheel, performers, fireworks, and 75 hectacres of custom-made props for the fans to explore throughout the park.
New to the 2012 festival was the highly-anticipated Tomorrowland TV, which broadcasted 7 hours a day from each day of the festival. The live stream reached almost 8 million views, making it the most watched electronic music event EVER on YouTube and one of the highest viewed music events in the world! Co-Founder of Tomorrowland Michael Beers was more than pleased with the success of Tomorrowland TV:
The amount of people around the world watching Tomorrowland TV is beyond anything we could have hoped for. Some of the countries with the most viewers included Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and the USA, this really shows the international appeal of the festival.
Tomorrowland 2012 was truly a massive success, but the experience isn’t over quite yet! The festival is working on putting together the Official Tomorrowland 2012 After Movie, and are looking to build on the success of last years video, which rained in almost 46 million views. The 2012 After Movie will take it to the next level and will go live at the end of August. Until then, watch a recap of Fireworks Friday at Tomorrowland, and relive the magic of the best electronic music festival in the world.
